Adelaide City Council’s staff have produced a new report on the Frome Bikeway. It’s due to be discussed at a Committee meeting 6 October, with the resolution forwarded to the next Council meeting.
The report is over 100 pages long, so we’ve produced the key points here. We’ve also said what we think should happen now.
A real concern is that Council may decide to revert to 4 traffic lanes in peak hour, despite the report showing it would have no benefit. This would reduce the width of the Bikeway from 2.7m to 2m, not wide enough for one cyclist to comfortably pass another. It wouldn’t meet the new standard determined by the Queensland Government for its separated bikeways.
