Earlier in 2023, the Albanese Labor Government introduced the National Electric Vehicle Strategy. Unfortunately it did not recognise e-bikes as electric vehicles.
In response Bike Adelaide has written to Hon Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy encouraging he consider the potential of e-bikes and how subsidising their purchase will directly address Australia’s problems with transport emissions, congestion, car dependency and car-first urban planning.
